Mounting rice paper
In this workshop, you will learn how to mount different types of rice paper in the traditional Japanese way. You will get to work with paper varying in thickness, weight, absorption, and number of layers.
You will learn how to cope with the vulnerability of wet rice paper, and how to let it dry wrinkle-free.
You can either mount your own ink painting, or you can simply learn how to mount various types of paper. Apart from Sumi-e painters, this workshop is also useful for, e.g. bookbinders, graphic artists, and other paper fanatics.
Mounting rice paper is an art in itself. This is why in Japan, most artists bring their paintings to a specialty shop.
You will be introduced to the original, traditional mounting brushes, you will make your own glue, and you will learn to operate like a paper surgeon.
In short, this workshop is very unique and extremely informative.
